It’s been a while but I’m back with another tutorial – hurrah!
I fell in love with the Deluxe Chocolate Box I shared at Christmas (original post here). So decided I had to make more for Valentine’s. Since I was making more, it seemed rude not to share the design and show how to put it together.
I’ve used the Love You Always Suite to decorate them (of course) plus some retired DSP for the red boxes.
For the top of the box I’ve provided two options. A full sized tray (see the Raffaellos) or a smaller tray (see the soap roses and Malteasers Truffles). On the Raffaello box below you can see I used the Heart Charms as additions to the ribbon drawer pulls. A detail I think elevates the box even more.
I made two of the Real Red boxes so tried out some different decorations. I like the “Always” die cuts at the back of the Raffaello box (above), but then I like the bottom tray decoration on the Malteasers Truffles (below).
Here’s the tutorial. It’s a long one at 45 mins so prepare yourself! That was with speeding bits up too. Between the video and the measurements below I hope you’ll feel confident to give this a go yourself.
Measurements and Scoring:
Coloured Base
9-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ score 4″
4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ score 1/2″
Attach into one strip
Sides
2 of:
11″ x 7-1/4″ score 1/2″ 1 side and 2-3/4″ the other 3 sides
Chop the diagonals and tab in the corners
Patterned Paper for Sides
2 of:
5-3/8″ x 3-7/8″
Big Sleeve
2 of:
6-15/16″ x 6-7/16″ score 1/2″, 1-1/2″ turn 1″
Attach to one strip and close up the back
Big Tray
7-1/4″ x 7-1/4″ score 15/16″ all sides and build box
Small Sleeve
2 of:
6-7/8″ x 5″ score 1/2″, 1-1/2″ turn 1″
Attach to one strip and close up the back
Small Tray
7-1/4″ x 5-13/16″ score 15/16″ all sides and build box
Either repeat Small Tray again for full width top OR
Top Tray
6-11/16″ x 5-5/16″ score 15/16″ all sides and build box
