Sewing Box Card and Gift Box Combo

My mum is very special, so of course I had to make something special for her on Mother’s Day.

I used a fair amount of my retired supplies because they worked the best. I can reuse supplies honest! You can make your own version of the box easily with different supplies. You just need to get hold of some split pins.

I made 1 “big” base box which was 4″x6″, then 2 smaller boxes to go on top but with lids 4″x3″.

Cut the lids of the boxes at at angle and then attach a small strip of card (3″x1″ score the 1″ in half). This piece needs attaching to the base of a small box and the inside of the lid so that the lids flip back as pictured.

Add on the hinges and you’re done! The hinges I just cut 1cm of copper foil into a strip, stacked the boxes and held the strip against them to figure out a good length. Then I cut the ends into points and used that hinge as a template for the other 3. 🙂

I filled the base of my box with some Hotel Chocolat the small boxes with soap roses on one side and a card on the other.

This is my sweet little card which you’ll have seen fits in one of the top small boxes. I tied it up with Snail Mail twines and decorated with Elegant Faceted Gems.

I used the Classic Label punch multiple times for the top sentiment and fussy cut the bottom one. I also fussy cut out a a sprig of leaves from the patterned paper, curled the leaves a little with my fingers and glued down the stem. A simple thing to do with no extra supplies but it looks good!

Since the card is so small but the box was quite deep it made sense to make a folding card with multiple pages. I decorated the inside with the same matching papers and added a little sentiment on one of the two pages I had left blank for my hand written message.

Thank you for getting this far and checking all my photos!
