Becky’s Birthday Butterflies

The butterflies are back! This time with a new technique. Again I wanted to play with my new Stampin’ Blends. This card was made for my sisters birthday this week, hence Becky’s Birthday Butterflies 🙂

So this time I stamped my butterflies with Versamark clear embossing ink and heat embossed in black to create a raised shiny outline. I then coloured in my butterflies with my Stampin’ Blend dual tip alcohol markers and punched out.

I also used my blends to colour blocks onto some Whisper White card and then used the Well Written dies to cut out the words “birthday” and “wishes” in the same colours to matchy matchy.

The butterflies are the star of this card, but I sneaked some more heat embossing in by using clear powder to repeat the word “Birthday” in the background. Its’ subtle, but it added a bit more texture and broke up the white space. A close up below better shows what this looks like in person.

The butterflies are attached with mini glue dots to the card fronts. This allows you pull back the wings rather than sticking them flat to the card.

Saying that, to decorate the envelope I used some more of the butterflies but did glue these down fully so that they if they were knocked they didn’t ping off!
